craft words and weave colour
Wordo is a playful word game where players use coloured letter cards from their hand and a shared Wordocloud to play words and earn points. Inspired by Scrabble and Set, Wordo is a simple game for family and friends.
origin story
Wordo began as a personal project and a gift for the 5th birthday of a dear friend's son. I knew he loved words, reading, and writing, and thought it would be a fun and unique gift to craft a game, just for him.
I enjoyed the challenge of creating a game simple enough for a young child to enjoy, but deep enough to grow older with him - and stay fun.
This design pillar inspired the unique game mode Experto Wordo, a more challenging version of the game. I don't think that Wordo is done growing either... The core mechanic is simple and flexible enough to afford more complex variations!
The balance of simplicity and depth is my current fascination as a designer.
