CHAPTER IV

"Seek the wisdom of soil and stone."

The Temple stands at the foot of the Root. The hallowed halls of this sacred place bloom with eternal life. The living stone empowers you.

You recall the teachings of the Mother that you learned in just such a place. The secret wisdom of the soil and the quiet strength of the earth.

The Temples were once places where the forest spirits connected to these forgotten truths. They sat in silent meditation and

cultivated the power of life itself.

Now you will do the same.

NEW RULES

The player that completed the Quest from Chapter III  has unlocked new rules for the group! Well done. They must now meditate upon the knowledge they have restored. Their next turn is skipped.

In this Chapter, you will learn about Cultivation Cards.

NEW ACTIONS UNLOCKED!

Cultivation Cards

Cultivation Cards are the second type of Effect Cards in the Game of Arbor. Cultivation Cards are inexpensive cards that allow you to gain resources, grow the forest, or empower you in other ways.

Drawing a Cultivation Card

(1) Cultivation Cards are drawn during your Day Phase for 1 Manna.

(2) You are only allowed to draw Cultivation Cards if your Ancient is standing on a Temple.

Playing a Cultivation Card

There are three important pieces of information displayed on a Cultivation Card:

(1) At the top of the card is the Phase Marker that shows which Phase of your turn the card can be played in.

For example: Dawnsong can only be played during your Dawn Phase and Dusksong can only be played during your Dusk Phase.

(2) Below the Phase Marker is the name of the card.

(3) Below the Arborian glyphs is written the effect of the card.

Cultivation Cards are Phase Locked, which means that they can only ever be played in the phase that they are associated with.

NOTE: Be careful! Once you move from one Phase to another, you can't go back. Make sure to play all the cards you want in the correct phase!

Temple (Updated)

Building a Temple costs:

(1) 2 Manna

(2) 2/4/6/8/10 Trees

For every Active Temple in your Forest, you draw +1 Tree in your Dawn Phase.

If your Ancient is standing on an Active Temple, you can draw Cultivation Cards for 1 Manna.

Effect Card Combinations

You now have access to Star Cards and Cultivation Cards. While these cards are impressive on their own, they become even more powerful when used in clever combinations.

A big part of the Game of Arbor is building up a strong hand of cards that opens the door for big plays!

That's what this Chapter's quest is all about!
